Teaching today is much more than being a teacher.

It is being someone who listens to family and friend problems—someone who gives rides home because the student was forgotten—someone who brings extra breakfast because there is a hungry student—someone who helps with math homework even though they are a History teacher—someone who teaches the difference between right and wrong—but, most importantly, someone who praises, rewards, cheers, and proudly brags about students’ achievements.

This is a continuation of a monthly segment where I introduce my students and their works. With the world so violent today, with so many adults too busy for children, it is imperative to stress the positives and any achievement, no matter how small. Remember, do them right, because they will be taking care of us and our world one day!

reoca-san is an incredibly intelligent and wonderful student with a kind heart. Her drawings are amazing! And now with her new laptop, I am sure she will continue in her success. She has also completed a year-long project on Japan which I am sure she will ace!
